10/7/2009 11:59:05 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 7: In the season of weapon fudging in murder cases, the civil administration and Police were today seen looking for answers as double tragedy struck a family in Sarwal area of city.
The story goes like this: Sarwal resident Nanak Chand’s son Rajnish Kumar was missing for a couple of months and family has reported case to the Police. Meanwhile, a Srinagar based family also lodged complaint with Police accusing Rajnish of running away with their daughter. Recently Nanak’s other son Pawan reached Srinagar to find out whereabouts of his brother but Police arrested him and put him in the lockup.
Next day Pawan was found hanging in the Police lockup. When the deceased’s body was brought to Jammu today it turned out to be Rajnish and now Pawan, who was shown arrested in Police records. The question is: if Pawan was arrested then how come Rajnish reached the Police lockup to commit suicide. And if Rajnish was actually arrested then what happened to Pawan who, according to Police record was arrested by Police and later his body was found hanging in Ram Munshi Bagh Police Station.
On arrival of the deceased’s body here today clashes broke out between police and relatives of the deceased as they found swapping of the dead bodies of two real brothers.
Rajnish, sources said, during his visit to Srinagar in Dalgate eloped with a Muslim girl identified as Amima Yousuf. Soon after their incident took place family members of the girl lodged kidnapping report with the Ram Munshi Bagh police station. After two months on specific information a Srinagar police team arrived in Jammu and arrested one Pawan Kumar, brother of the accused, and took him to police station where he hanged himself to death with a ceiling fan in police lock up for unknown reasons.
The body of the deceased was brought to GMC hospital Jammu for postmortem where family members of the deceased established dead body is of Rajnish’s, younger brother of Pawan and questioned about Pawan’s whereabouts. Unbelievably, in police records the boy arrested has been identified as Pawan Kumar but the body brought to Jammu has been identified as Rajnish’s as per the family members. Entire machinery of police as well as the relatives of the deceased is frustrated over the incident. Billion dollar question arise as to who fled with the girl who was arrested by the police and whose dead body has returned the police and where does the other son of family is?
Meanwhile, enquiry by deputy commissioners Srinagar was ordered in the incident there and IGP Jammu also has ordered for enquiry under the supervision of SP North Randeep Singh here so that facts and figures could be obtained undoubtfully. When contacted Deputy Development Commissioner Jammu M. K Diwidi said that on the request of family members of deceased orders of post mortem was extended by him with consent of DC Srinagar to avoid any misunderstanding. However during midnight development sources informed that Pawan Kumar’s where about has been established by police.
