| Rajnath opposes force cut in J&K | | | Early Times Report Chandigarh, Oct 7: Bharatiya Janata Party President Rajnath Singh today urged the Central Government not to withdraw security forces from militancy-riddled Jammu and Kashmir in view of the ongoing attempts of infiltration from Paksitan. "I appeal to the Government not to take risk of reducing the forces from Jammu and Kashmir", Mr Singh, who was here for an election campaign in Haryana, told a media conference here. He said that Border Security Force was being withdrawn from the state despite the ISI of Pakistan making an every attempt to push militants into Jammu and kashmir. Also, the mountain division of army was being pulled out of Rajouri and Poonch areas of the state, he added. He said that withdrawl of forces would prove counter-productive in view of insurgency activities, supported by ISI, in the state. Condemning the decision of Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) to appoint a special envoy for Kashmir, the BJP chief said the OIC took the decision at the behest of Pakistan which tried to internationalise the Kashmir issue. Mr Singh urged the Government to realise the gravity of the OIC action and persuade it to withdraw its envoy appointed for Kashmir. Stating that US fiancnial aid to Pakistan had gone up three times, he said India being a strategic partner, after the nuclear deal, should build a pressure on the US to stop the aid to Paksitan as such economic help had been misutilised by it in fomenting terrorism in India in the past.
