| President arriving today | | Thick security jacket in Rajouri as Pratibha Patil visiting along LoC | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 8: Rajouri became an epicenter of security and administrative concentration Thursday in view of President of India Pratibha Patil’s visit tomorrow who will be visiting the forward areas along the Line of Control.
This will be first visit of President Patil to any forward areas of Jammu region and her second official visit to Jammu and Kashmir. The President had earlier been to J&K on a five-day visit in May 2008. Earlier this year the Vice President Dr Mohammad Hamid Ansari had visited Nowshera Sector in Rajouri.
A three-tier security blanket has been thrown over the areas along the Line of Control in Rajouri district ahead of President’s . ''Final rehearsal of three-tier security apparatus was done today to provide fool-proof security during the President’s movement along the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts,'' an official source said.
Besides the Army, additional personnel of Paramilitary Forces and state police have been called in for the security purpose in the area, sources said, adding troops were keeping a tight vigil on the movement of people and vehicles in the area.
Ms Patil is scheduled to visit forward positions to boost the morale of Army troops manning the LoC in western districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu.
Sources said the President would be visiting the forward posts from where infiltration bids were made by militants recently. The Army keeps round-the-clock vigil along the 742-km-long LoC with the Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) in Jammu and Kashmir. |
