| 53 cross sides in Karvan-e-Aman | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 8 : As many as 53 people crossed sides in the Karvan-e-Aman bus operating between Srinagar-Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), official sources said here today.
They said 31 residents, including three women and one child, arrived here this afternoon after crossing the Aman Setu bridge on foot at Kaman post, the last Indian Military post near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector.
However, only person, who had crossed over to POK, also returned in the bus after meeting his relatives there.
They said eight residents of this side, including three women and one child, also crossed over to POK to meet their relatives there.
As many as 13 residents of POK, including three women and three children, who were here also left for their homes today, they added.
The fortnightly bus service was started in April 7, 2005 when Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh flagged off the first batch of residents of this side to POK after India and Pakistan agreed to allow the residents living on both sides of the LoC to travel on permits instead of passports.
