| Gandhian workers have a broader role to play in present turmoil: Verma | | | Early Times Report Jammu Oct 10- ‘Gandhian workers have a broader role to play when a number of nations are riddled with violent conflicts and growing terrorism’, said SP Varma National President Gandhi Global Family at a function organized by the Maharashtra branch of the Society at Mumbai today. He was felicitated for selflessly propagating Gandhian ideology in Jammu and Kashmir for the last two decades. Mohan Joshi, the renowned Gandhian and coordinator Gandhi Global Family Maharashtra, presided over function. Speaking on the occasion Varma said non violence as preached by Mahatma Gandhi are no more confined to India and peace all over the world can be achieved if all nations and groups across the globe resolve to adopt the Model of Mahatama Gandhi viz., peace, harmony, non-violence, tolerance, understanding, cooperation, equitable development, respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all and respect for diversity. The whole humanity across the globe should resolve to follow Gandhi’s footprints in letter and spirit, he added. In Kashmir, Gandhian workers have worked relentlessly in the odd situations, when militancy was at its peak. Today situation has improved a lot and need for following the principals of Mahatama Gandhi becomes more imperative. All the issues need to be sorted out through a continued dialogue process. All the groups and agencies should work for achieving an amicable solution of all the problems with a resolve for peace, harmony, non-violence, tolerance and no further division among the people, he said. He exhorted all Gandhian workers to work unitedly in this region for strengthening people to people contact. Gandhi Global Family has undertaken a number of programs to popularize the Gandhian policies across the world, he said.
