| Tainted cops sent to jail | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 10- Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu YP Bourney today granted two weeks judicial remand of former SSP Jammu Manohar Singh, Sultan Mirza then SHO Gandhi Nagar, Satnam Singh then Sub-Inspector Gandhi Nagar and ordered to keep the arrested police officers in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jammu. All the three arrested police officers, in the much publicized murder case of Amandeep Singh, were produced in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu by Special Investigating Team headed by DySP Abdul Rouf Lone today. While the SIT demanded further police remand but Advocates DS Chouhan, PN Raina, OP Sharma, Anupam Raina, Rajneesh Oswal and Rohit Sharma appearing for the arrested police officers, vehemently opposed further extension of police remand. CJM, after hearing CPO Pawan Khajuria with Dy SP Abdul Rouf Lone, granted two weeks judicial remand and ordered that the arrested police officers be kept in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jammu. In the meanwhile, the suspended and arrested SSP Manohar Singh today filed another bail application in the Court of Principal Sessions Judge Jammu for grant of bail in the FIR 247/2009 registered u/s 201/120-B RPC. Upon this the Court directed to produce report on October 13, 2009. Another accused in the murder case Sub-Inspector Satnam Singh also filed his bail application in the Court of Principal Sessions Judge Jammu for release from custody of police in FIR 247/2009. In his bail application filed through Sukhvinder Singh and Kapil Mahajan, the applicant leveled serious allegation of third degree against SIT team and mentioned that when applicant was being taken to police station, he was mercilessly subjected to third degree and was forced to sign certain written papers, which he has done under duress and was severed thrashing by the police officials namely DySP Abdul Rouf Member SIT and one Kamaljeet Singh DySP who is not member of SIT and has no connection with the investigation of case and Brij Lal ASI who forced the applicant to sign the written papers. The applicant, who has been threatened of his life and liberty because of adoption of third degree methods by SIT members, informed the Court about the imminent threats to his life because of his detention in police custody. Although there is no direct evidence showing involvement of the appellant in the commission of alleged crime but has been forced to sign blank documents with a view to create evidence as against the appellant while justifying the illegal detention in police custody and prayed for grant of bail. It is worthwhile to mention here that when Satnam Singh was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate today leveled the same allegations against the SIT. JNF
