| JU official in dock for marks tampering | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 10- Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu BL Bhat today framed charges punishable U/Ss 466/468/471 RPC r/w section 5(2) J&K Prevention of Corruption Act 2006 against Ram Kangotra then Head Assistant Professional Evaluation Engineering Unit, University of Jammu. According to challan the accused Head Assistant in the year 2005 while posted as Head Assistant Professional Evaluation Engineering Unit, University of Jammu, abused his official position as a public servant by dishonestly and fraudulently making illegal alterations in award roles of the students having appeared in different semesters of engineering examination held by the University in February/March 2005 for purpose of cheating. It was further alleged that accused falsely and dishonestly increased marks in 109 answer sheets pertaining to 34 students, though they were otherwise failing in the respective subjects. The accused Head Assistant dishonestly and fraudulently obtained code key from the nominated code officers at initial stage and mixed the first phase with second phase in violation of procedures and rules to obtain the knowledge of identity of beneficiaries and marks awarded to them and forged the registers prepared in official capacity by tempering the award of marks in marks files, award rolls and tabulation registers to inflate, actually secured marks in 109 answer sheets pertaining to 34 beneficiaries and thereby conferred undue benefit upon the beneficiaries.\ The Court after hearing CPO Purshtom Sharma appearing for the Vigilance Organization Jammu framed corruption charges against the accused.
