| Symposium on climate change | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Oct 11: A symposium on “climate change – if not halted the consequences can be catastrophic” sponsored by WWF, India was organized by the zoology department of government degree college (GDC) Rajouri in which ten students from five college of Rajouri district participated. In the competition Nidha Mir of GDC, Budhal was adjudged first in the symposium, while Sonika of GDC Nowshera and Waqar Lone of GDC Budhal bagged second and third prize respectively. Complimenting the speakers for their perfect understanding of climate change and its consequences if not halted. Principal Dr. Nutan K. Rasotra of the college, sought pledge from students to plant a one tree which would go along way in the direction of eco-conservation. Prof MB Magray while attributing increasing health problems to the degrading environmental quality, stressed upon the need for striking a balance between development and ecological balance. Earlier in his welcome address, Dr. P. Bambroo, head deparment of zoology, deliberated in detail how climate change in impacting agriculture and food production while emphasizing the need for carbon to save the human race from a catastrophe. The proceedings of the symposium were compered by prof. Saleem Aiyaz while vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Shameem Choudhary.
