| SRTC employees' strike resumes after three-day halt | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 12 Striking State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) employees today resumed their strike after a 3-day halt and received a shot in the arm with Jammu and Kashmir government employees holding a token demonstration in their support.
Appealing to the government to mitigate their grievances urgently, the state government employees took out a procession from Municipal Park to SRTC office near Lal chowk and staged a demonstration, call for which was given by the Joint Consultative Committee, an apex body of employees.
SRTC employees, who are on strike for 46 days, suspended demonstration three days ago after an assurance by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that government will soon revive the corporation and redress the workers' issues.
The employees had set a three-day deadline to settle their grievances which ended yesterday. Therefore, workers resumed the agitation today, chairman of SRTC employees Shakeel Ahmad Kuchay said.
