| ISAP organizes training course on ACABC scheme | | |

Jammu, Oct 13: The Indian society of Agribusiness Professional (ISAP) in partnership with National Institute of Agriculture Extension Management (Manage), Hyderabad, organized a training curse on ‘Agri-business Centres (ACABC) scheme’ for fresh batch comprising of 33 trainees here today. The two months training programme was inaugurated, by chief general manager, national bank for agriculture and rural development (NABARD), ML Sukhdeve. The programme aims to encourage agriculture and allied sector graduates, to set-up Agri-clinics and Agri-business centres for employment generation and to provide quality extension services to the farmers. The trainees after completion of the training programme can set up their own enterprises in any agriculture and allied fields.
In his address the chief emphasized the importance of this training programme which will help in accelerating the existing agriculture extension network in the process of technology transfer and providing supplementary sources of input supply and services. Director of horticulture, JL Sharma briefed the trainees about different areas of activity which trainees could take up after completion of the training programme. He specifically mentioned setting up of integrated fruits plants nurseries, value addition (fruit processing), cold storages, controlled atmospheric storage (CAS), medical plants, apiculture, production of vegetables in green houses, mushroom cultivation, and vermiculture. He also pointed out that great motivation, commitment, patience and hard-work is required, on the part of trainees, in making the success story of any agri-venture.
Earlier MS Nargal, project officer, ACAB (ISAP) centre, in his welcome address gave brief account of the training programme and specific entrepreneurial activities which are important for Jammu province.
