| Lawyers’ strike paralyses work in Jammu courts | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 13 : Normal work remained paralyzed in Jammu wing of state High Court and its subordinate courts in Jammu district on account of one day strike of Bar Association Jammu. The strike call was given by Bar Association Jammu against the recent order by the state High Court wherein registration work has been entrusted to one court instead of nine courts as was being done since years. The Association is also pressing for the early completion of work on the lawyers’ chamber. Sources told that the work remained affected in the high court and subordinate courts in Jammu today after lawyers refused to appear in the court proceedings. A large number of lawyers also assembled outside the district court complex at Janipura and held a strong protest demonstration. Shouting slogans in favor of their demands, the agitated lawyers also blocked the entry gate for some time to restrict the entry of litigants in the court premises. They said that Association had already intimated presiding offices of all the court regarding the one day strike call. The executive committee of the Association will again meet on Thursday to chalk out the next course of action in case the high court fails to withdraw the controversial order, sources told .
