| Security beefed up in Jalandhar after receipt of threat letter | | | JALANDHAR, OCT 2 Security in and around the city was today beefed up following alleged threat by Hizbul Mujahidin to blow up vital installations in Punjab. Police said they received a letter purportedly written by Hizbul Mujahidin threatening to blow up radio station, TV tower, Bhakra dam and some other religious places during Dussehra. "The letter was written on plain paper by one Hashim Shah Kureshi, self-styled commander of Hizbul Mujahidin. It also theatened to trigger blasts in Halwara Air Force base and Sutlej bridge before Diwali," Superintendent of police (headquarters) U S Ghumman said here. He said security across the city has been tightened after receiving the letter. |
