| KG Brigade organises ‘Fouzi Mela’ near LOC in Poonch | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 14 Krishna Ghati Brigade today organised weapon and military equipment display in ‘Fouji Mela’ for people living close to Line of Control (LoC) at Mendhar tehsil of district Poonch. Defence spokesperson stated that a Battalion of Krishna Ghati Brigade under the aegis of Ace of Spade Division organised a Fauji Mela during which army weapons and equipment were displayed. ‘In addition the Army also organised various cultural and sporting events for the benefit of the locals,’’ an army spokesman said. The mela was inaugurated by class 8th student Miss Shajeena Shakeel in presence of civil dignitaries, military officers and a large number of locals. A large number of people from remote villages close to LoC participated in sports and cultural events organised for them by the army. A Medical Information Room with medical stalls and a dental chair was also set up for providing free check up for the needy people, the spokesman added. Besides, special enclosures were set up by the State Bank of India, J&K Bank, Departments of Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries to educate the civilians on various schemes and special provisions instituted by the government for the benefit of the people. At the end of the exhibition, the Chief Guest exhorted the civilians to work towards the development and prosperity of the region and urged them to maintain peace and harmony with mutual tolerance for all sects and religions. This was followed by distribution of the prizes to the participants who took part in various sports and cultural programmes organized during the occasion.
