| Rising unrest indicates collapse of Government: PDP | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 14 Expressing deep concern at the growing levels of unrest among the people the Peoples Democratic Party has said the spate of demonstrations and protests and disturbing indicates of the collapse of governance. In a statement issued here today a spokesman of the party said the current strike and demonstrations by various sections of people including employees, and the unemployed youth reflected a virtual collapse of governance and indifferent attitude of the state government. Referring to the problems of doctors and employees of SRTC who are being demonstrating in support of a fair deal the spokesman said their absence from duty had created unprecedented problems for the people of the state. He said the callous attitude of the state government was obvious by the manner in which it had been handling genuine demands of the SRTC employees for past six months and now the doctors. “Instead of providing employment to the thousands of educated youth the government was creating a new class of unemployed people out of its own ranks” the spokesman added. The spokesman said while SRTC employees were facing huge economic problems by mismanagement of their corporation and inability of the government to respond the doctors who represent the cream of our society had been forced to take to streets as the government was unable to reach upto them with compassion and understand. Referring to the unrest and demonstrations in Kupwara the spokesman reiterated the party’s offer to extend support to government for any administrative or legislative measure that could resolve this problem once for all. The spokesman said that feeling of deprivation and inequity which was witnessed in Kupwara could become sharper and more widespread if the government did not respond with the emerging situation with urgency and purpose.
