| Slathia reviews functioning of Mining Deptt | | | Early Times Report OCTOBER, SRINAGAR 15 - Minister for Industries and Commerce, Mr. Surjit Singh Slathia has taken a review of Geology and Mining Department today. The officers of the department briefed the Minister about to the activities of their department and also highlighted certain problems with regard to shortage of staff and infrastructure and the Minister assured them that their genuine problems will be taken care of. As against target of Rs. 17.38 crore during the current financial year the department has achieved target of Rs 200.236 lakh for Minor minerals and Rs 17.536 crore for major minerals in Jammu division. Similarly, in Kashmir Division a target of Rs 55.279 lakh was achieved to minor minerals. While as in major minerals Rs 58.86 lakh achieved for first six months. During the current year the department has kept an amount of Rs 31 lakh for ongoing works. Similarly an amount of Rs 70.80 lakh was received from Government for starting the construction of works and an amount of Rs 25 lakh were released for construction of two story observatory at Tangdar and an amount of Rs 75 lakh have been kept under the construction of the works. An amount of Rs 75 lakh have been kept under the construction of the works, an amount of Rs. 20 lakh have been kept for construction of mineral check posts and Rs 55 lakh for construction of IInd Geo-Technical observatory at Poonch and the amount shall be released to the concerned authorities after completion of codal formalities and as well as an amount of Rs 148 lakh have been kept for purchase of machinery and equipment and rings accessories. Similarly, an amount of Rs 25 lakh have been kept for the purchase of one seismograph machine along with its accessories and also an amount of Rs 15 lakh have been kept for the purchase of Raw material
