| Workshop on PNDT Act | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, OCTOBER 15 A 2-day workshop on Re-orientation of Appropriate Authorities and Media persons on PC and PNDT Act (pre conception and prenatal sex determination techniques) was held in the Post Graduate Department of Government Medical College in collaboration with Director Reproductive Child Health and Family Welfare (RCH) & FW, J&K under the aegis of NRHM.
The objective of the workshop was to re-orient the appropriate authorities and media about the adverse child sex ratio and effective implementation of PNDT Act.
Day one of the workshop was attended by the appropriate authorities under PNDT Act (CMOs, Dy CMOs and specialists in the disciplines of Gynecology and Radio-diagnosis from all the districts of Jammu division.
Mr Sabu George and expert from New Delhi, Dr Vijay Mengi, Professor and Head of the department, Community Medicine, Dr D S Jamwal, Associate Professor and Dr Rakesh Bahi made illustrative presentations of the current scenario of child sex ratio in the country, PNDT Act and ethical issues and deliberated upon the issue of missing girls and present sex ratio in Jammu and Kashmir.
On second day of the workshop Dr Jasbir Singh, Director, Health Services Jammu and Dr Dushyant Gupta, Deputy Director, Dr Ghanshyam Dev, Profession and Head Radio-diagnosis and Dr Vijay Mengi, Dr D S Jamwal and Dr Rakesh Bahl from faculty of community medicine interacted with the media personnel on the subject and deliberated on the issue.
