| Police solves Samba Chain Snatching Case; two arrested | | | Early Times Report
Jammu Oct 15: Jammu police claimed to have busted a gang of criminals involved in various incidents of theft/robberies, by arresting two chain snatchers from Samba district of the region.
Official sources said that on 11.10.09 two Motor cyclists riding on TVS Apache without number snatched a golden chain of a lady Sushma Kumari W/O Shri Ram R/O Reshamg-ghar Colony, Jammu near Railway Crossing Chagwal Tehsil District Samba.
After snatching the chain both the culprits fled away from the spot on that Motor Cycle towards Rajpora.
On receipt of information Police swung into action and after a hot chase Motor Cyclists were over powered by the Police Party near Village Sanoora and snatched golden chain was recovered from their possession.
Motor cycle used in the crime was also seized. On sustained interrogation both the culprits namely Raj Kumar S/O Ganesh Dass R/O Gali No 0 House No 839 Indira Colony. Pathankote and Gumam Singh S/O Swaran Singh R/O 111/1 Sunder Nagar Tangroad, Pathankote.
On the disclosure of arrested persons other gang members including Shashi Paul S/O Janti Ram R/O Proot Nagar near Court complex Pathankote, Vijay Kumar S/O NK R/O Preet Nagar near Court Complex Pathankote presently lodged in Gurdaspur jail and Kalia S/O NK R/O Motli Ramp Damtal (HP) a known smack dealer.
It is pertinent to mention that the accused Raj Kumar was involved in many other cases including attempt to murder and has remained in jail for 19 months
Both the accused persons have also confessed their involvement in chain snatching in District Kathua.
The gang also visits Jammu and Vaishno Devi quite often, but their involvement in these areas can not be ruled out. This gang possesses one Indica car one Santro Car and three Motor bikes, they usually use these vehicles when they go to commit crime in other neighboring states.
The accused persons have also admitted during interrogation that they have engaged a permanent lawyer at Gurdaspur Court to look after their criminal cases. A Police party headed by Inspector is being deputed to Punjab /Himachal Pradesh for collection of more information, which will be shared to higher authorities very shortly
