| Pahari Department in JU, KU demanded 2-day conference concludes | | | Early Times Report Karnah, Oct 15- Inclusion of Pahari language into University curriculum is one of the five demands adopted in the shape of common resolutions by the Pahari intellectuals, writers and poets who participated in a two day state level Pahari literary and cultural conference organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages which concluded here today. The other resolutions adopted by the Pahari writer’s fraternity include recognition of Pahari language in school curriculum up to 12th standard, starting of Pahari program from AIR and Doordarshan Jammu and Srinagar and opening of Sub-office of Pahari section of State Academy of Art Culture and Languages in Karnah. Speaking on the occasion Zaffar Iqbal Khan Manhas Secretary Academy said that this was one of the historic moment in this border belt when around three hundred top writers, poets of Pahari language from all parts of the state participated in the two day conference organized by the Academy with the objective to promote the culture and heritage of un-privileged area of the state. He said that Academy is committed for the development of all the languages spoken in the state including Pahari which is an important and ancient language. Kafeel –ul-Rehman Member Legislative Assembly from Karnah while addressing the concluding ceremony stated that the Pahari movement has entered into an important phase. Prominent Pahari writer Dr. Nissar Rahi, who presided over the valedictory function, stated that Pahari language deserves more attentions from government. Appreciating the Academy, Rahi said this conference will be considered a mile stone in promoting and propagating of Pahari language and culture.
