| Hawala operators held with Rs 1.8 lakhs | | | Srinagar, Oct 18 : A courier gave slip to Jammu and Kashmir police after receiving hawala money for militants while another was arrested with Rs 1,80,000, official sources said here today. They said a tip off was received by police about some couriers receiving hawala money for militant organisations in the Kashmir valley. A trap was laid near a particular place at General bus stand at Batmaloo where the couriers were to receive the hawal money. During the operation police arrested one Hasmat-ullah, resident of Bagli Gandoh after he collected Rs 1,80,000 from a woman hawala operator. However, she gave slip to police, they said adding that Hashmat was working for Divisional Commander (DC) of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) Shah Din alias Shah, operting in Doda district of Jammu region. According to a police spokesman, Hashmat had admitted that he had come on the directions of HM DC to collect money here. He was told that the agent concern will contact him on phone. Police said Hashmat reached here and immediately received a phone call from local agent yesterday and he wsa directed to collect money at bus stand Batmaloo. He said a team of Srinagar Police arrested Hashmat but other Srinagar- based operative woman escaped. Hashmat said one of his associates, had already received Rs 70,000 just before the police raid took place.
He said a massive hunt has been launched to apprehend both the persons.
