| 6 KILLED in road mishaps | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 18: At least six persons have been reported killed and around two dozen others injured in different road accidents across the region, the Police said. The major accident killing four persons is reported to have taken place in Ramban district. Police said, four persons, including a constable of Indian Reserve Police (IRP), were killed when a tipper they were traveling veered off the road and fell into a gorge on Ramban Gool road, while two persons were killed and twenty-two others injured in separate road mishaps across Jammu region. Four persons were killed when a tipper, 4434-JK01, skidded off the road and fell into a 250 feet deep gorge at Dharmkund on Ramban Gool road, this afternoon. The ill-fated vehicle, they said, was on its way from Jammu to Sangaldan when it met with the accident. Police said that all the four people, including driver and cleaner, traveling in the tipper were killed on the spot and their bodies were later brought out of the gorge. “Priliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle was under influence of liquor which could be one of the cause of the mishap”, Sub Inspector Sadaqat Hussain, Incharge Police Post Dharmkund said over phone. He identified the deceased as Purshutam Lal of Udhampur, constable IRP-D Company posted in Sangaldan, Irshad Hussain son of Abdul Gani of Daramkund, Ram Lal (conductor) son of Chuni Lal of Reasi and driver Krishan Lal son of Hiru of Reasi. The bodied of the deceased were shifted to Dharamkund for postmortem, he added. Meanwhile, a police spokesman said that two persons were killed and twenty-two others were injured in different road accidents in Jammu during the last twenty-four hours. A woman was critically injured when she was hit by a Matador (JK02B-5240) in Kathua district. Identified as Rama wife of Balwant Singh resident of Tarara Kathua, the injured was shifted to GMC Jammu where she succumbed to her injuries. Another pedestrian, Sindha Singh son of Kartar Singh resident of Pindi Charakan, died on the spot when he was overrun by an unknown vehicle. Twenty-two other persons were admitted in GMC Jammu after they were injured in different road accidents in Jammu, the spokesman added.
