| Most central offices, banks still feel Kashmir insecure | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 19 : Hundreds of boys and girls from the Kashmir valley will travel to different parts of the country, including Jammu and other northern states to appear in interviews and written tests in near future as most Central government departments and banks still feel the situation in the Valley is not conducive for setting up of examination centres here.
However, the recent incident in which a cricketer from the Kashmir valley was detained for several hours at Bangalore has caused concern among the parents whose wards will be travelling outside Kashmir to appear in interviews and tests.
There is no other alternative but to travel despite fears of harassment in the name of security by police outside the valley, alleged some parents.
The parents, demanding setting up of examination centres by Central departments and banks in the Kashmir valley, said when the state government could not satisfy these departments that the situation in the valley was conducive for all activities, how it can assure the foreign and domestic tourists that they are safe here.
''My son has to appear in a written examination being conducted by the State Bank of India (SBI) for clerks' posts throughout the country,'' said Abdul Aziz, adding that since there was no centre in the Kashmir valley, he has to go to Jammu now.
However, he expressed the hope that Kashmiri boys and girls appearing in the test would not face any problem in Jammu. ''But, what about others who had to travel beyond Jammu to appear in other interviews,'' he questioned.
Several boys and girls from Kashmir have also opted for Chandigrah as centre for their examination.
The SBI in its recruitment notification has clearly mentioned that the last examination station in north India will be at Jammu and no mention was made of any centre in the Kashmir valley, forcing aspirants from here to opt for other stations.
Again the Intelligence Bureau under the Ministry of Home Affairs has invited applications for the posts of Assistant Central Intelligence Officers grade II and Executive.
Among the 32 centres being set up across the country, Jammu and Leh figured in the list while Kashmir was again missing.
