| Harsh for early resolution of agitating Doctors issue | | | Early Times Report Jammu Oct 19 Expressing concerns over crumbled health infrastructure in the state as a result of the ongoing junior doctors strike, Harsh Dev Singh National Panthers Party (NPP) MLA and chief spokesperson has asked the the government to address the issue at earliest. He regretted that hardened postures on both the sides have created a stalemate thus adversely affecting the proper delivery of health services in the state. He said in the given situation, the poor patients are bearing the brunt and have been made to suffer and in certain cases the losses have been irreparable. Singh said that the on going strike has raised certain serious ethical questions about the stands taken by both the doctors as well as the government. He said that the doctors demand for a higher pay scale cannot be considered unreasonable as those pursuing this important profession also need to be appropriately compensated for their services and efforts. He said the onus for the strike, rather, lies on the government, which did not consider the review of the pay anomalies of doctors in the meeting of the committee formed for the purpose. He said the government owes an explanation as to why the case of doctors was ignored at the time of reviewing of pay anomalies of various other categories by the committee constituted for the purpose. He said had the government acted on time, the present unpleasant situation could have been averted and then there would have been no reason for doctors to strike.
