Rs 10 million counterfeit currency seized in Doda

Jammu, Oct 19: Achieving a major success in busting a racket of economic terrorism, the Jammu Police today claimed to have seized Rs ten million counterfeit currency in follow-up to arrests made on Sunday.
This is the biggest seizure of fake currency in recent times and the Police appeared to have moved exceptionally swiftly in reaching the main racketeer. The seizure has been made by the Bus Stand Police station from a hideout in Doda district, the sources said.
On the disclosure of five persons arrested by the General Bus Stand police on Sundy a raid was carried out in Doda area in which cops arrested another person who happens to be the son of former National Conference block president of Doda City.
The fake currency worth Rs One Crore has also been recovered from his possession, sources informed. Earlier during interrogation of the five arrested persons, bus stand police got several clues and accordingly a police team led by SI Sajjad Parvez conducted raid in Doda area and arrested another accused identified as Khalid Munshi son of Kudrat Ullaha Munshi and reportedly recovered fake currency worth Rs One Crore (Ten Million). As per source all the six arrested persons are being sent to Joint Interrogation Centre Jammu (JIC) to get more information to reach the bottom of the racket.
Earlier bus stand police arrested five drug peddlers and recovered intoxicants including capsules and injections besides counterfeited currency from their possession. Bus stand police on disclosure of one lifted peddler conducted a raid in electronic shop in Sunjwan of one Varinder Sharma son of P N Sharma resident of Talab Tillo and seized a black colored polythene bag containing intoxicant capsules, injections and fake currency.
Police lifted Varinder Sharma a cop posted presently at District Jail Amphalla and during questioning he disclosed the name of his other companions and on his disclosure a raid was conducted in his shop and three more persons identified as Abdul Hamid son of Alamdin resident of Sunjwan presently working as supervisor with Jammu Municipal Corporation, Davinder Sharma son of Kamal Sharma resident of Mastgarh, Abdul Majid and Rajinder Sharma who were hiding in his shop, were arrested. The interrogation is going on in bus stand police station to elicit more information, sources informed.
