| POK migrants demand treatment at par with KPs | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 20 -Pakistan Occupied Kashmir Migrant United Front demanded treatment at par with the Kashmir migrants. Addressing media persons here today, Tirath Singh president of the Front highlighted the burning socio economic and political problems being faced by POK Refugees of 1947 and the Sikhs in particular. He alleged that due to callousness of the successive state and central governments the migrants are living in abject poverty. The refugee community is educationally, economically, socially and politically most backward but yet no reservation has been provided to the refugee community, Singh said while alleging discrimination towards this community. He demanded monthly financial aid of Rs 5000 per family and free ration to the landless at par with Kashmiri migrants, package of Rs 20 lakhs per family for final settlement, reservation in jobs, professional colleges, de-freezing of PoK assembly seats and allotment of the same to the to the PoK refugees of 1947 for electing their representatives, restoration of land to the refugees, regularization of land to the refugee community allotted as per form ‘A’, regularization and modernization of refugees basties. Singh however appreciated the efforts of Minister of Revenue and Relief and appealed him to fulfill the demands of this neglected community. The front appealed to the Chief Minister to personally intervene to socio-economic upliftment of PoK migrants.
