| BJP organizes protest demonstration at Kathua | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Oct 20- The inhabitants of Kathua today held a protest demonstration against the failure of the government to construct a bridge to connect two parts of Aarliwand and Parliwand in Kathua. The bridge was demolished by the construction agency some two years back but till date no work has been re-started on it causing great inconvenience to the people of these twin villages. The city president of BJP Karan Singh organized a massive protest demonstration in which large number of people including the shopkeepers took part .The protestors demanded early construction of the bridge besides taking up repair work of the Bagtali road They stressed upon the local administration to be serious towards its duties . Uttam Chand, Satish Gupta, Ravinder Singh, Ravi Singh, Kaka, Vijay Kumar and Vinod Mahajan were prominent among those who took part in the protest demonstration. In the meantime the Safai Karamcharies also held a protest dharna in Municipal Council premises in support of their demands which included regularization of daily wagers who have been working in the Council for that most than seven years. The Union leaders said that a call for three day ‘kaam chod hartal’ has already been given from today and warned the government that in case the genuine demand of the Karamcharies were acceded to the workers would go on indefinite strike for which the entire responsibility would lie on the state government.
