| Protests in Kupwara as Gujjars pitch for Tribal University | | | Early Times Report Srinagar Oct 20 Demanding establishment of Tribal University in North Kashmir and rehabilitation of nomad Gujjar of the State Gujjars activists today demonstrated in front of office of District Development Commissioner Kupwara here this afternoon. Later they submitted a memorandum to DDC Kupwara The demonstration was organized by J&K Chapter of Gujjar Maha Sabha. Ch. Ishfaq ur- Rehman Poswal, the state president of Gujjar Maha Sabha said that the Gujjars of northern Kashmir are the worst sufferers of government policies. The main demands highlighted by the protesters includes inclusion of Gojri in the 8th Schedule of Indian constitution , Speedy implementation of Developmental Schemes for Gujjars, the order regarding closing forests to nomadic movement to be withdrawn forthwith, establishment of Shopping Complexes at District and Tehsil Headquarters for Gujjars, proper representations in Rehber-e- Taleem/ and Other Govt. Schemes, introduction of Cattle insurance Sachems for Banharas and Bakerwals, enhancement of seats for Gujjars in Professional Colleges and Relaxation of age bar in favour of Gujjar candidates in Police and other recruitments. Others who speak on the occasion included Ch.Saraj Din, Ch Naik Alam, Bagh Ali Chechi, and Sher Ali.
