| JDA asks encroachers to vacate voluntarily | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, OCTOBER 20 -The Vice-Chairman, Jammu Development Authority, Mr. Gulzar Ahmed Qureshi conducted an extensive tour to Bagh-e-Bahu, Qasim Nagar, Gorkha Nagar, Nai Basti and Sunjwan and appealed the people not to encroach pathway and lanes of the localities.
At Bagh-e-Bahu, Mr. Qureshi and its team found most of the shopkeepers have encroached the pathways by constructing khokas and have created nuisance in the historical place. For the convenience of pilgrims, he asked the Khilafwarzi team of JDA to remove the encroachments from the area. He stressed on the coordinated efforts of all functionaries to afford comfort to the visiting pilgrims.
Interacting with the shopkeepers, he said that lakh of pilgrims within as well as outside the state are visiting the Mahakali temple (Babe-Wali-Mata) and pay obeisance there. He said that it is the duty of every citizen to provide all basic facilities to pilgrims and government is planning to construct sitting view points and walkway along river Tawi for the tourists attraction. He said that through the mechanism of Tourism Development Authorities and tourist circuits, the government intends to tap fully the potential of peaceful locations in Bagh-e-Bahu and adjoining area.
Mr. Qureshi said that Bagh-e-Bahu area has emerged as an example for others to imbibe in promoting pilgrim tourism. However, this needs to be further streamlined by advancing more facilities, and in this behalf he pointed that Bahu Fort area now needs a state-of-the-art Tourist Information Centre.
