HC directed PDD to pay Rs 2, 88, 000 compensation

Jammu, Oct 2: Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir of J&K High Court Jammu Wing allowed a petition filed by Zubaida Begum of village Bedar, Poonch who son Riyaz Ahmed while digging land accidentally came to touch with a live high tension wire and was electrocuted and died on October 21, 2001, has allowed the petition with the direction that petitioner Zubaida Begum is held entitled to compensation of Rs 2, 88, 000 along with the interest @ 6% from the April 7, 2003 till its realization.
In the petition Adv Seema Shekhar appeared for the petitioners submitted that the case of the petitioner that her son lost his life because of the careless and negligence at of the respondent dept.
Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir after hearing Adv Seema Shekhar appearing for the petitioner and Deputy AG Shaista Hakim appearing for the PDD observed that petitioner has lost the source of income and dependency, is entitled to Rs 2, 88, 000 as compensation, she is also entitled to interest @ 6% PA from the date of institution of this petition till its realization.
