| 2000 school to get buildings soon | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 21- Chairman, Departmental Related Committee (DRC) for Education of Legislative Council, Abdul Gani Vakil has stressed for improvement and new look to the system of education. He said that government headed by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is very serious and in this regard several steps have been initiated to improve and vocationalize the education system in the state. Vakil was chairing DRC meeting held at Assembly complex here today. Legislators including Mohammad Yousuf Taing, Rafiq Ahmad Shah, Ali Mohammad Bhat, Secretary Legislative Council, Mehboobi, Secretary, Education, G. A. Peer, Director School Education, Kashmir, Chief Education Officers and Zonal Officers of the valley and senior officers of the Council Secretariat attended the meeting. Vakil said that need of the hour is to give a new look to improve the education system. He directed the concerned to activate teachers and intensify supervision and monitoring of educational institutions for better results urging for awarding the teachers for achieving excellent results, vakil asked them to submit their tour diaries regularly. The Chairman also suggested for transparent transfer policy. The Committee was informed that out of 6000 school buildings, the construction of 4000 school buildings have been completed while the rest 2000 school buildings would be completed in the next year. The committee was informed that Rs. 4.40 lakh are being spent on primary school buildings whileas Rs. 6 lakh are utilized for middle school buildings. Vakil directed that concerned to complete all ongoing projects in a time bound manner and ensure the funds are utilized in full and asked them to abide by the rules and guidelines. The Committee directed them to furnish the list of functional and non-functional computer within a month.
