| Police Commemoration Day observed at Udhampur | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Oct 21: To pay homage to the police martyrs for their supreme sacrifices made for the cause of their Nation, Police Commemoration Day was observed at District Police Lines, Udhampur, here on Wednesday. A guard of honour followed by floral tributes were paid to the valiant and brave police martyrs who laid down their lives for safeguarding the interest of civilians. Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi, Mr. Gulzar Singh Slathia, Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur, Mr. Surinder Gupta, Additional SP, S. Bhupinder Singh, SP City, Mr. Rajeshwar Singh, Dy. Controller Civil Defence, Mr. Bodh Raj, district officers, prominent citizens and family members of the martyrs also paid their floral tributes to the departed souls. Speaking on the occasion, the SSP threw light on the importance of the Day saying that Police Commemoration Day is a momentous and poignant day on the police calendar to recall and pay rich tributes to the dedicated policemen whom we entrust with the protection and preservation of our cherished way of life. Mr. Gupta said that it is an opportunity to acknowledge the grief of the families who have lost their dear ones while protecting the life and property of the citizens. Later, the DIG, Mr. Slathia interacted with the family members of police martyrs of district Udhampur and enquired about their welfare and assured them that all possible help would be provided for the redressal of their genuine problems.
