| Manohar suggests JAKFED measures to enhance profit | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 21: Minister for Cooperatives, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, who is also the Chairman of JAKFED, has asked JAKFED to tie-up with ERA, NBCC for lifting the cement from its outlets so as to increase its profitability. The Minister said this while on a surprise visit to JAKFED office at Ambphalla here today. During the visit, the Minister inspected various sections of the department including Transport section, cement, fertilizers, shops, re-conciliation, office of General Manager, Managing Director, Financial Advisor, etc. and inquired about their functioning. He inspected the godown of LPG gas cylinders and enquired about the sale. During the inspection of cement section, the Minister said that JAKFED should rope in other important players in the state undertaking construction of development infrastructure besides the state works department for increasing its competitive bid in the market and profits. At present, JAKFED is selling cement to the Works department of state government. He also directed for maintaining the quality of cement setting high level of quality standards for others to improve its competitiveness. The Minister also inspected the construction work of the JAKFED shops being constructed in the complex. During the inspection of the fertilizers section, the Minister sought date-wise as well as district-wise despatch details of fertilizers and the district-wise fertilizer requirement. Dr. Sharma directed the Managing Director to work with dedication and achieve the daily target so that the society may get benefit. He called for better management and resource generation so as to improve the financial health of JAKFED. The Minister also inspected fertilizer godown at Railway Station and saw the loading and unloading of DAP there. He also inspected the JAKFED godown at Vikram Chowk and physically verified the stock of damaged fertilizer there. At Miran Sahib, the Minister inspected the defunct rice mill and cold storage of the department which is lying closed for a last many years. He directed for revival of the rice mill and the cold storage. Later, the Minister inspected the JAKFED outlet at R. S. Pura and directed the concerned for opening an LPG counter there for the convenience of general public. He also told them to advertise through pamphlets and other means so that people are informed accordingly and register themselves. Among others, Managing Director JAKFED, Mr. Shafat Noor, General Manager, Managing Director, Financial Advisor and other officers accompanied the Minister during his visit.
