| Compensation sought for draught affected people | | | Early Times Report DODA, Oct 22: Expressing grave concern over shortage of ration and other essential commodities in Doda and adjoining localities, Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) today demanded that adequate ration should be dispatched in this belt to solve problems of the masses. Addressing a function after launching membership drive in Doda town, party general secretary Thakur Balbir Singh regretted that except promises Congress-National Conference regime has done nothing to solve basic problems of the common people. He pointed out that road accidents have become a regular feature in Doda belt but authorities failed to streamline movement of traffic and deploy more transports. Speaking on the occasion, party leader and MLC Sayed Asgar Ali lambasted the coalition regime for not taking effective steps to solve problems which have been emerged due to prolonged draught in this belt. He demanded survey to assess the total loss resulted due to the draught affected people. PDP leaders on this occasion educated the people about the Self-Rule proposal and asked the party workers to spread message of the party in every corner of the Doda district. Advocate Imtiayaz, Atta-ullah-Khan, Hanif Bhat, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat and other senior leaders addressed the function.
