| Manohar knocks half dozen office doors, find officers, doctors chronically absent | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 22 : Minister of State for Cooperatives, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today conducted surprise raid at several government offices at Hiranagar and found many employees absent from duty.
At Sub District Hospital, Hiranagar the Minister observed that the BMO was missing on the plea of attending a meeting while as three doctors Dr Sanjay Raina, Dr Juhi Sharma and Dr Iram Mir were absent from duty since last many days without any reason. He directed the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua to ask the CMO to call the explanation of the three absconding doctors.
The Minister visited the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Hiranagar and observed its attendance and general functioning. The Principal of the Institute was also not present on the occasion. He directed for maintaining a movement register for keeping a track over the movement of the staff of government offices.
He inspected the computer unit, cutting & tailoring centre, shorthand centre and other wings of the ITI and interacted with the trainees. He called for conducting cutting & tailoring workshops for giving greater exposure to the trainees of the trends prevalent outside the state.
Dr Sharma also inspected the new complex of ITI coming up at Hiranagar and directed the ADC to expedite the ongoing construction work.
Dr Sharma followed his tour of ITI with a visit to the Agriculture Extension office and Block Development Office and took stock of their functioning. Dr Sharma directed the BDO to accelerate the works taken up under Command Area Development and Border Area Development plan. He said that the present coalition is stressing on realising the development potential of all the far-flung and border areas by reaching out the schemes catering specifically to these areas. He said that no compromise will be made on development front, adding that slackness on part of government officials will not be tolerated at any cost.
The Minister also visited the office of Horticulture Development Officer, CDPO, Tehsil Supply, Cooperative Society and Tehsildar.
Taking serious note of the absence of Horticulture Development Officer, the Minister gave strict directions that from now on, no office should be without a movement register. At the CDPO office, he enquired about the stock and quality of nutrition being provided at the angwanwari centres. He also checked the quality of rice and atta being despatched by the Tehsil Supply Office and directed to ensure proper distribution of BPL and APL ration to the card holders.
At the Tehsildar Office, Dr Sharma asked the Tehsildar to speed up the process of issuance of PRCs and income certificates so as to provide relief to common men. He also interacted with the people gathered at the Tehsildar office and enquired about their problems. He asked the Tehsildar to update the revenue records and work with zeal for the welfare of people.
Later, Dr Sharma concluded his tour by a visit to Treasury Office and Municipality office, Hiranagar. On observing the absence of Executive Officer, Municipality, Dr Sharma asked the ADC to seek his explanation at the earliest.
The Minister also announced Rs.2 lakh for repair of dilapidated building of Cooperative Society.
