| BJP pays rich tributes to Pt. Dogra on his 126th Birth Anniversary | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 22: Pandit Prem Nath Dogra was a great patriot. He served the society as a true nationalist. But his greatest contribution was to defend Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of India. He struggled hard to frustrate the designs of secessionists and semi-secessionists. His contribution would be long remembered by the nationalists in the times to come. These rich tributes have been paid by the leader of the BJP Legislators Party, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta on the eve of 126th Birth Day of late Pt. Dogra, who was the founder of the erstwhile Praja Parishad and also remained the president of Bharatiya Jana Sangh (now the BJP). Prof. Gupta recalled the Congress led by Jawahar La Nehru, first cheated the nationalists by accepting the highly painful communal division of India and then put conditions before the Maharaja Hari Singh for handing over power to Nehru’s controversial friend Sheikh Mohmmad Abdullah, before accepting the accession of his state of Jammu and Kashmir. This provided opportunity to newly created theoretic state of Pakistan to launch an invasion of Jammu and Kashmir and attempt to grab it through are enemy held of force. After the accession when the Indian troops were marching fast liberating the areas, New Delhi falling prey to the machinations of certain foreign and internal elements went for cease-fire with Pakistan, he added and recalled after this cease-fire, one third of this state still remains under illegal occupation of Paksitan. Against this cease-fire Nehru’s friend Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah sensing the mind of the Maharaja and also that of other nationalists in the state, he in February 1949, first of all arrested Pt. Prem Nath Dogra and some of his colleagues and a reign of terror was let loose with the objective of attaining absolute power. At the behest of the Sheikh, New Delhi managed the exile of the Maharaja who had signed the Instrument of Accession of his state to the Union of India and J&K had become legally the part of India.
