| LeT militant shot dead in Mendhar, hideout busted | | | JAMMU OCT-02 A dread militant of LeT outfit was killed in a joint operation at village Nabana in Mendhar area of Poonch district today, security forces busted a hide out and recovered some ammunition while a civilian grazing cattle strayed across the LoC from PoK was apprehended in Palanwala Sector. A defence spokesman said that acting on a tip off about the presence of a militant in Mendhar area, a joint operation was launched by 37 RR,153 TA and the commando group of Police Poonch at village Nabana .The militant was challenged to surrender but he resorted to firing on the search party who also retaliated the fire and in the ensuing gun fight the militant was shot dead. Identified as Abu Sarya the slain militant was a top militant of LeT outfit and was active for quite some time. One AK rifle, two AK magazine, one pouch and one BSNL sim card have been recovered from the possession of the slain militant. The reports said that a civilian while grazing his cattle strayed across the LoC from Pok was challenged and apprehended. On interrogation he identified himself as Bittu son of Majid of Kothi Dardarpur Chhamb. He was handed over to Pak Army personnel of 11 Sindh as a goodwill gesture. The spokesman further said based on information from a SPO, the security forces recovered a natural cave in Darkanun 2 KM North West of Samrot. During searches, the forces recovered one AK 56 rifle, one AK magazine and 30 rounds of AK ammunition.
