| Doctors strike Bazaz urges governor to end stalemate | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 22: Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Forum, president Bhushan Bazaz has expressed grave concern over the crumbled health infrastructure in the state as a result of the ongoing agitation by the doctors of government hospitals and lack of seriousness on the part of the government to address the issue. Bazaz said it won’t be out of context to mention here that doctors have gone on strike as a last resort after consuming all other possible means of getting their demands fulfilled. Consequently, when nothing concrete happened on ground despite, doctors repeatedly threatening to go on strike and finally decided to go on indefinite strike with a heavy heart. Bazaz said that the doctors demand for a higher pay scale could not be considered unreasonable as those pursuing this important profession also need to be appropriately compensated for their services and efforts and the onus for the strike, rather, lies on the government, which did not consider the review of the pay anomalies. He said the government owed an explanation as to why the case of doctors was ignored at the time of reviewing of pay anomalies of various other categories by the committee constituted for the purpose. He said had the government acted on time, the present unpleasant situation could have been averted and then there would have been no reason for doctors to strike. Bazaz has urged governor NN Vohra to personally intervene in this matter and to bring and end to sufferings of people of the state in general and doctors in particular.
