| J&K likely to pull artists out of Chandighar National Festival | | | Chandighar , 23 Oct: Jammu and Kashmir State is being constrained to pull out its artists from National Crafts Mela scheduled to commence at Kalagram from tomorrow. Addressing a press conference here Dr. Javaid Rahi, Deputy Secretary to J&K State Academy of Art, Culture and Languages told media persons “we are being forced to do so but the Government of Jammu and Kashmir will take final decision in this regard, as we have informed the state about all happenings”. “We are waiting for a final word from our government” said Dr. Rahi during North Zone Cultural Centre and Chandighar Administration press meet addressed by Ram Niwas, Home Secretary of Union Territory. Dr. Rahi said “J&K is the theme state of this National event and Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages is the main organizer of this event but the North Zone Cultural Centre Patiala and Chandighar Administration have not mentioned of J&K Academy in all its publicity material, hooding, advertisements, cards and other related material. He said J&K Cultural Academy, NZCC and Chandighar Administration are equal partners of the festival but they have not reflected this practically and added “we are spending lakhs of rupees on this event just to promote the diverse Cultural heritage of J&K at National level”. “They wants to misrepresent us, we can’t not tolerate this said Rahi”. He informed the press that the NZCC and Chandighar Government were timely informed about this but they have not taken the remedy measures. Meanwhile around three hundreds artists from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh arrived here this morning to take part in ten day long Nationa Festival. The Festival-is commencing from 24th of this month and the grand final of this event will be held on 2nd of November. The festival is a joint venture of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages , North Zone Cultural Centre and Chandighar Administration.
