Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 23: Shahnawaz Choudhary, All India General Secretary NSUI, Incharge Delhi and North East States, is optimistic that NSUI will strengthen the roots of Congress in the North Eastern States and will play important role in the recent elections. Shahnawaz who concluded a month long tour of the north eastern states (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim & Mizoram) on the instructions of Rahul Gandhi, AICC General Secretary, Incharge NSUI and Hibi Eden, National President NSUI. Choudhary has called upon the youth of the North Eastern states of India to strengthen the hands of Congress party under the able leadership of Smt. Sonia Gandhi. He said, people of the North Eastern States and especially the youth has pledged support to the Congress policies and Youth programs initiated by Rahul Gandhi He added, “I saw a great amount of talent and dedication among the youth of the North eastern state, they are full of energy and are committed towards the stronger, more developed and prosperous India.” Shahnawaz during the course of the tour met the Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi, PCC Chief Nagaland, K.V. Pusa, PCC Chief and former CM Tripura, Samir Ranjan Barman, Chief Minister Arunachal Pradesh, Doorjee Khandu, PCC Chief Arunachal Pradesh, Nabam Tuki, Chief minister Mizoram, Lal Thanawla and PCC Chief Sikkim Sh. Bhandari along with several ministers and senior leaders and sought their help in strengthening NSUI units in their respective states. Shahnawaz also Chaired various functions and meetings at Kohima (Nagaland), Guwhati, Durang, Nogaon, Gola Ghat, Nalbari (Assam), Itnagar (Arunachal Pradesh), Imphal (Manipur), Aizwal (Mizoram), Gantok (Sikkim) and Agartala (Tripura). He also campaigned actively for the congress candidates for the Arunchal Pradesh assembly constituencies and established NSUI units in various districts of the North Eastern states. Commenting upon the warm welcome that Choudhary received in these States Shahnawaz said, “I m over whelmed by the arousing reception and honor given to me by the NSUI units of the States. The North Eastern states have a rich culture and it was a great learning experience for me as a resident of Jammu and Kashmir to be amongst such affectionate people”, he added.
