Nago, brothers asked to surrender

Jammu, Oct 23: Only five days left for presenting challan and still now clue about the alleged key conspirators; the Choudhary brothers –Nagar Singh, Ujjagar Singh and Rakesh Singh, already proclaimed offenders, were today warned on the beats of drums to surrender before the Court or the Special Investigation Team probing Amandeep murder case.
Following court orders, drum beater were seen roaming in various parts of Jammu city including Gandhi Nagar, Satwari, Narwal, BC Road, Nanak Nagar and Channi Rama this afternoon, announcing the recent court order wherein the three bothers, Choudhary Nagar Singh alias Nago, Rakesh Singh and Jaggar Singh alias Ujjagar Singh, have been asked to surrender before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu by November 30 failing which proclamation will be issued against them.
The drum beater attracted lot of crowd in busy Gandhi Nagar area, where people were trying to understand the contents of the announcement.
The trio are wanted in a probe against some police officers including the then SSP Jammu Manohar Singh for their alleged role in tempering the evidence in Amandeep murder case. The case is being investigated by a Special Investigation Team headed by District SP Ramban Mubasir Latifee under the supervision of DIG Jammu Farooq Khan.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Jammu Y P Bourney, on October 21, had issued notices to the three brothers after an application was filed before it by In-charge SIT for issuance of proclamation under section 87 of CrPC on the grounds that accused have gone underground and were wanted in the probe.
They were directed by the court to surrender before it or before SIT by November 20 failing which their properties are liable to be attached. The court can direct the attachment of the property being owned by the absconders in case they failed to comply with the order.
All efforts of SIT to secure the presence of the accused persons namely Choudhary Nagar Singh alias Nago, son of Kohla Ram, resident of 33-AD Gandhi Nagar, Jammu Rakesh Singh, son of Kohla Ram, resident of Raipur Satwari and Jaggar Singh alias Ujjagar Singh, son of Kohla Ram, resident of 25 C/C Gandhi Nagar Jammu failed and consequently warrants of their arrests were obtained. However, despite strenuous efforts of SIT and raids at several places within and outside the state, the possible hideouts of accused, but same could not be executed.
The court after going through the record and hearing the prosecution had issued proclamation calling upon all the three accused persons to surrender before it or In charge SIT within 30 days from the date of its publication, failing which appropriate orders as deemed necessary in the circumstances shall be passed.
The court had further observed that the proclamation shall be in addition to the ordinary mode as prescribed under section 87 CrPC, be published in Govt. Gazettes.
