| Blind student Rahul honoured with cash prize, gold medal | | | JAMMU, OCTOBER 03 A function was held in the premises of Residential School for Blinds, Jammu here today. The function organized by Social Welfare Department in connection with to celebrate the sparkling success of one of its inmates namely Mr Rahul. He has secured first position in the All India Level Devotional Song competition during Navratra festival at Katra. The department of tourism honoured Mr. Rahul with a cash prize of Rs. one lakh and a gold medal. District Social Welfare Officer Jammu Mr Khalid Jahangir and Child Development Project Officer Jammu Mrs Renu Sareen, CDPO Mrs Chander Kanta, Superintend Residential School for Blinds Jammu Mrs Sayeda Parveen were present. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Khalid congratulated Mr Rahul for his resounding success in the All India Level Devotional Song competition and said that Rahul’s success is a matter of pride for the department. He appreciated the role of the Superintend and staff of the Residential School for Blinds for providing a salubrious atmosphere to the inmates to realize their talent. It amply testifies that strong will can overcome the shortcomings thrust by the physical disabilities, he said. He wished success to Mr Rahul in his future career and exhorted other inmates to work with same devotion and zeal. Spoke on the occasion, Mrs Sayeda Parveen also congratulating Mr Rahul on the success, she also highlighted some difficulties being faced by the Residential school Blinds Jammu and sought early redressal.
