| Court rejected bail of accused in fake currency racket | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 24: Special Excise Mobile Magistrate Jammu Suneet Gupta has rejected the bail application of one Abdul Hamid of Sujwan Tehsil Jammu who was arrested on October 18. According to the police reports on October 18 at about 5:30 PM information from reliable source was received at Police Station Bus-Stand Jammu that some persons conducting the business of counterfeit currency notes and on that all the persons namely Abdul Hamid, Majid Hussain, Narinder Sharma, Rajinder Singh and Devinder Sharma were found to be in possession of counterfeit currency notes and a case u/s 489-C RPC was registered. During the investigation Rs 2000 counterfeit currency notes were recovered from Abdul Hamid. Special Excise Mobile Magistrate Jammu Sunit Gupta after hearing Senior Prosecuting Officer Anil Jamwal appearing for the State and Adv Mohd Saleem Malik appearing for the accused observed that while pursuing the case dairy it reveals that the police had interrogated accused Abdul Hamid and he revealed that some important facts which may lead to some other links. It is also borne out from the CD file that the accused Abdul Hamid was actively involved in counterfeiting the Indian Currency notes with the help of printer and scanner which belongs to the accused Majid Hussain as such prima-facie the accused Abdul Hamid is found to be involved in the commission of offence u/s 489-C RPC which carries the maximum punishment of life-imprisonment. More so the investigation in the case is still in its initial stage and by admitting the accused Abdul Hamid on bail at this stage would definitely hamper the investigation. With this observations Court dismissed the bail application. JNF
