Assured power to industries will be ensured: Shabir

JAMMU, OCTOBER 24 -Minister of State for Power, Mr Shabir Ahmed Khan said that the government would streamline the electricity supply to the industrial areas to encourage industrial growth in the state.

This was stated by him during his visit to industrial area Bari-Brahmana here today. The Minister visited 132/33/11 KV power grid station, third phase and took stock of the electric supply to the industrial area. He also inspected 3x11 33/11 KV receiving station, and 2x50 MVA 132/33 KV Grid sub station, in Bari-Brahmana. The grid sub station has been installed under Prime Reconstruction Plan and caters to the electric supply of most of the industries of the industrial estate.

The Minister later visited Vaishno Flour mill where the Public Distribution Department flour is prepared. The mill with a capacity 6000 quintal per day supplies 50,000 bags of flour per month.

The Minister directed the owner of the flour mill to maintain cleanliness in the mill. He said that the product coming out of the mill should be of the highest quality standard, adding that the mill owners should go for comprehensive modernization of the mill.

Interacting with the industrialist, Mr Khan said that a number of power projects are coming up in the state. He said that government is paying focussed attention to the power sector and the effort is to make the state self sufficient in power. He asked the industrialist the cooperate with the government and not resort to power pilferage as it not only creates hole in public exchequer but is also not in their interest. He said that under new reforms for power sector, the government has envisaged assured power supply to the industries as it believes that the state’s economy can only move forward when the industries thrive without any hindrance.

Earlier, the Minister also visited M/S Medley Pharmaceutical limited and took a round of its various units. The unit is providing employment to 350 skilled and unskilled people and is spread over 15981 sq meters
