| Electrification of far-flung villages priority of government: Hussain | | Rs.20.16 cr sanctioned for reconstruction of flood affected installations | | Srinagar, October 03 ( Under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Viditi Karan Yojana (RGGVKY), all un-electrified and de-electrified far off and remote areas of Anantnag and Kupwara districts are being covered for electrification under the centrally sponsored recently launched scheme in the first phase. This was stated by Minister of State for Public Health Engineering and Power, Peer Mohammad Hussain while interacting with several deputations of Anantnag and Kupwara, who had called on him yesterday to apprise him about various development needs. Mr. Hussain said that the scheme approved for these two districts in first instance is aimed at electrifying all uncovered areas. He said that Power Development Corporation has already invited tenders for allotting the work for starting the work as soon as possible. Referring to recent damage to houses, standing crops and other installations in Anantnag, Pulwama and some parts of Srinagar by flashing floods, the Minister said that government has sanctioned Rs.20.16 crore for reconstruction of damaged infrastructure in the affected areas. This amount would be distributed to various departments as per requirement and need. The Revenue Department would receive Rs.2.50 crore, PHE Rs.4.87 crore, PDD Rs.2.84 lakh, Flood Control Rs.4 crore, R&B Rs.4 crore, Housing & Urban Development Rs.1.45 crore and Health Department Rs.50 lakh. |
