| TBS holds “Business Fest - Lakshya.09”, | | | Early Times Report Jammu Oct 24 The Business School (TBS), University of Jammu is hosting a two day State Level “Business Fest - Lakshya.09”, which was inaugurated today. Prof Varun Sahni, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest and Manish Trehan, COO, Airtel, Jammu was the Guest of Honour. Prof. Varun Sahni in his address reflected on the characteristics of competition. He stressed that winners consciously try to be different while retaining the best practices in their respective domains. He said, “Future managers should be creative and innovative, be aware about organizational complexity, knowledgeable about technology, sensitive to the human dimension, alive to global dynamics, and respectful of their social and environmental obligations.” While speaking on this occasion Manish Trehan, in his address, differentiated between organizations and institutions, and added that institutions have an important role in the nation building process. He recommended that it is important to be self-observers for which one needs to actively engage, focus on values and take the path of inclusive growth. Earlier, Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Director, The Business School in her welcome address, highlighted the spirit of competition and said that one’s best competitor is within oneself. She said that Lakshya is an opportunity for the young minds to learn the art of navigation through turbulent times and said such events promote industry interface and prepare the learners for workplace mindset and persona. Prof B C Sharma, Dean Student Placements, University of Jammu introduced the concept of Lakshya.09. During the inaugural function, the MBA admission brochure 2010 was also released. Prof. Ashok Aima, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies presented the formal vote of thanks. Gurpreet Kour, MBA Student conducted the proceedings of the inaugural session. During the two days of the Fest the various activities planned are “Quiz-o-mania”, “Ad Guru”, MBAians ‘Got Talent’ and “Tetromino”. Through the activities the student shall get an opportunity to exhibit their business acumen, creativity, team spirit and entrepreneurial skills. All the activities shall be judged by the corporate experts. Later during the day, Dheeraj Dhawan, Head-HR, Tata Teleservices (J&K Circle) conducted the Quiz. R K Gupta, Head – LG (J&K), Rajesh Aggarwal, Marketing Head, Airtel (Jammu), Priya Vajpayee, Centre Head, VLCC judged the “Ad-Guru”. The MBAians ‘Got Talent’ was judged by Vinay Sharma, COO, Bharti Infratel, Siddharth Arora, BIG-FM, Vivek Tyagi, Head-HR, HCBL (Jammu) were present on this occasion. Over 125 students from 11 institutions including The Business School, Kathua & Bhaderwah Campuses of University of Jammu, Islamic University, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, SET Business School, MIET Business School, PIMS, IMS, and MBS have registered for the event. The inaugural function was attended by various academicians, senior executives from the corporate, scholars, students and prominent citizens.
