| BJP remembers ‘Sher-e Duggar’ on his 126th birthday | | | Early Times Report Jammu Oct 24 BJP today organized a programme at Dogra Chowk to pay homage to the Sher-e-Duggar late Pt. Prem Nath Dogra on the occasion of his 126th birthday here today. The party leaders took part in havan and later garlanded the statue of Panditji on his occasion. While paying rich floral tributes to Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, the state President Ashok Khajuria, said that this great Sher-e-Duggar was an institution in himself. ‘Born in a village Smailpur on this day in 1884, he earned a very high and respectable place in the hearts of the people of the state, Jammu province in particular. He was a true nationalist who struggled hard for the full integration of the state with the rest of the country, he said and added it was Pt. Prem Nath Dogra who strongly opposed grant of Special Status to the state under Article 370. Khajuria said in present situation the state needs a leader like Pt. Prem Nath Dogra as the union government has totally surrendered before the Islamic fundamentalists and the separatists who are openly working for disintegration of the state. One concession after the other to these elements are posing threat to the unity and integrity of the state. He warned the Prime Minister and the UPA Chairperson, who are visiting Kashmir in next few days, to not make any announcement or promise which discriminates with Jammu and Ladakh and weakens India’s stand on Kashmir. Khajuria said the only issue between India and Pakistan is vacation of illegally occupied PoK by Pakistan. The Union government should honour the unanimous resolution passed by Indian Parliament in the year 1994 which seeks getting back PoK from Pakistan. BJP Legislature party leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, on this occasion, said that real tribute to Pandit Ji would be to opt the path of struggle against secessionism, regional discrimination and communal approach of the Congress and its fellow travellers including the NC and others. He asked the party leaders and workers to take pledge on this day to follow the principles and ideology of Panditji in their lives. Distt. President Rajesh Gupta presented vote of thanks on this occasion. Meanwhile , District President, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Prof. Sain Dass Gupta organised a workers meeting on the eve of 126th Birth Anniversary of Pandit Prem Nath Dogra chaired by the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) BJP Jagdish Sapolia. On the occasion BJP workers along with Prof Sain Dass Gupta and MLA paid floral tribute to Pandit Prem Nath Dogra at Kathua. MLA remembered the role played and contribution towards the society by veteran politician, academicians, social worker and great leader Pundit Prem Nath Dogra. Sapolia said that Pt. Prem Nath Dogra was a man of principle and also acted judiciously to deal the problems of the people. He was also great social workers because he founded Harijan Sewa Mandal for the welfare of the downtrodden community. People from Ghati, Basantpur, Jandor, Kardoh, Hatli, were present on the occasion. Dr. Narinder Jasrotia, Darshan Kumar, Prem Nath, Karan Singh and other prominent leaders of the BJP were present on the occasion.
