Rs. 42 lakh spent on agriculture in Kupwara

Rs.42 lakh have been spent for development of agriculture and allied sectors under Technology Mission in Kupwara district upto end of August last.
This was given out in a meeting convened by District Development Commissioner, Kupwara, Mr. Abdul Majeed Khanday here today.
The meeting was informed that Rs. 11 lakh have been spent under Vegetable Development Programme and 34 hectares of land brought under vegetable cultivation besides 2 water harvesting tanks and 35 protective cultivation structures provided to the farmers. Another 28 hectares of land were brought under flower cultivation besides 275 bee colonies provided to the farmers on 50% subsidy. Twenty-one training camps were organized by the department.
The meeting was further told that 335 hectares of land were brought under orchards besides power tillers, sprayers and diesel irrigation pumps provided to the farmers. Fifty-three harvesting farms and 62 hand pumps were also provided to the orchardists.
