| Bandh visits Kupwara, inspects under construction projects | | | SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 03 Minister of State for Roads and Buildings Mr. Mohammad Khalil Bandh yesterday conducted an extensive tour of Kupwara district and inspected the pace of various ongoing works and also to hear the problems confronting the people of the area. The areas visited included Kalarose, Drngmulla Gulgam, Trehgam, Awoora and Mughalpura. At Kupwara Mr. Bandh inspected OBC Hostel being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 127 lakh. The Minister was apprised that two hostel buildings one each for Boys and Girls with intake capacity of 50 would be completed at the end of this month. The work is being carried out under double shift system. He also inspected Pahari Hostel and Nari Niketan being constructed at Kupwara. It was given out that the Pahari Hostel having intake capacity of 50 persons would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 80 lakh and the Nari Niketan with capacity to accommodate 100 females would also be constructed shortly at a cost of Rs 80 lakh. The Minister inspected the ongoing work of 9 km Hari to Zuirhama road. He was told that this road would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 81 lakh. At Awoora Mr. Bandh inspected the Modern Public Health Centre being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 85 lakh. Mr. Bandh also inspected the work of Mughalpura bridge at Kupwara. He was apprised that the 203 meters long bridge would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 3. 80 crore. Describing the construction of Mughalpura bridge as an important connection between Kupwara and Handwara, he informed the execution of this bridge would benefit more than 40, 000 people of the area and thus long pending demand of the people of area would be fulfilled. He directed the executing agencies to complete the ongoing works in a stipulated time period so that people of the area do not suffer any more. Earlier, Mr. Bandh paid obeisance in the Dargah of Shai-Wali at Kupwara and prayed for peace and tranquility in the state. Enroute number of deputations also called on the Minister and apprised him about their various problems. Later he assured them that their genuine demands would be taken up with concerned authorities for sympathetic consideration. |
