Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 25: As miseries of patients continue to multiply and private clinics get overcrowded with elite patients, the government had issued a fresh warning to the striking medicos even as the agitating doctors appear to be on warpath.
Following government’s action of suspending some doctors and reverting others to the Health Department from Medical Education department, the striking medicos have decided to take a massive march to the Government Medical Colleges in Jammu and Srinagar. The march is also being seen as an attempt to stall the process of fresh hiring of Registrars and Demonstrators as notified by the government on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a high level meeting was taken today to review the arrangements for ensuing proper patient care in all Hospitals and Emergency Units. The Minister for Medical Education, Mr. R.S.Chib, Health Minister, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma, Advocate General, J&K, Mr. Ishaq Quadri, Commissioner/Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Mr. Atal Dullu, Special Secretary, Law, Mr. G.H.Tantry, Principal, Govt. Medical College, Srinagar, Dr. Shahida Mir, Director, Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. M.A.Wani were present.
It was observed that all possible measures were taken to ensure proper functioning of emergency Health Services both in Jammu and Kashmir with the deployment of doctors and enhancement of staff at those units where doctors remained absent.
In the meeting appropriate decisions were taken about absentees and it was made clear that Government will never allow at any stage health and patient care in the State to be effected.
