| Temp dips to zero in Valley | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 24: People in the Kashmir valley and Ladakh region are experiencing biting cold due to minus temperature even as water and electricity shortage because of dry weather in the absence of Western Disturbances (WD) affecting normal life. Drass, the second coldest place in the world after Siberia, and Leh in Ladakh region and Pahalgam in the Kashmir valley were coldest in the state. Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, witnessed the coldest night of the season with minimum temperature plummeting to zero this morning, a weather office spokesman said. World famous tourist resort of Pahalgam, base camp of holy Amarnath cave on the traditional route, was coldest in the valley with minimum at minus 2.2 degree Celsius. It was followed by Kokernag also in south Kashmir, where the temperature this morning was recorded at minus 1.4 degree, Kupwara in north Kashmir at minus 1.3 degree and Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway at minus 1.2 degree.
