| Petitions Committee directs DSE to release wages of helpers | | | Srinagar, October 03 The Petitions Committee of Legislators has instructed the Director School Education, Jammu to immediately disburse outstanding wages of helpers associated with the mid-day meal in Kathua district. The Petitions Committee met here today with MLA Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma in the chair and examined the Petitions filed before it. The Committee examined a Petition filed by the Helpers of School Education hailing from Billawar, Malhar and Bhadoo zones alleging that the Department has not paid their wages for the year 1997 despite many requests. The petitioners requested the Committee to intervene in the matter and make the release of their outstanding dues possible. The Committee directed the Directorate of School Education, Jammu to procure the details of the facts and take immediate measures to release the dues to the aggrieved. The Committee desired that an Action Taken Report on the subject should be presented in the next meeting. Meanwhile, the Committee has admitted another Public Interest Petition from Mendhar, Poonch for closing down a stone crusher which has allegedly been set up illegally and causing problems to the locals. This petition would be taken up in the next meeting. It may be mentioned that the Petitions Committees of Legislative Assembly welcomes the petitions of aggrieved persons who have failed to get justice from any quarter other then the Courts. The Committee examines all such petitions and decides matters as per merit. Among others the meeting was attended by legislators, Mr. Mohi-ud-Din Sofi, Mr. Zahoor Ahmed Mir, Mr. Mohammad Aslam Khan and Mr. Sarfraz Khan. The Additional Secretary Assembly, Mr. G.N.Mir assisted the Committee in conducting the business. |
